Donald J. Trump became the oldest person to be sworn-in as president in 2025 for his second nonconsecutive term, and Theodore Roosevelt was the youngest at 42 when he first took office in 1901. 

Seventeen U.S. presidents previously served as senators during their political careers. Of those, only three—Warren G. Harding, John F. Kennedy, and Barack Obama—were elected directly from the Senate to the presidency.
